  Update for June.
Well in the main the weather has been pretty good with a few only a duff days.
But on the good days, the fishing has been pretty spectacular The brittle star banks holding lots of cod "at the moment"! and the Tope fishing is almost relentless, at times were everyone on the boat have been into hard fighting fish at the same time, total mayhem but lovely to see.
Its been really nice for me to get you guy's into the fish, long may it last!
That'll do for now,
"very tight lines"

  Here we go again,
I’m sitting indoors, more than just a bit frustrated, the winds blowing a good 6 probably near 7 with reports of gale 8’s off shore, which is where I should be! but no, another weekend of cancelled trips.
I was really looking forward to these trips with reports of good Tope fishing in the week from a colleague and some lovely tides, should have known the weather was going to go t**s up, and the first of our Tope matches should have been on Friday.
Its not even very nice doing maintenance work in this weather.
Oh well for ever the “OPTIMIST” I’m sure it won’t be a re-run of last year, and that good weather is just around the corner, and I can’t wait! So here’s to a good summer and I hope to see you out enjoying it with me soon.
All the best,
Matt

Things are looking up, the first of the mackerel are showing up, the smooth hounds, blonde ray and bream are showing up in good numbers and I had the first Tope of the season on board last week, and even the weather been behaving!!! So all is looking pretty good in the angling world at the moment. So have a day off from the Countries problems and treat yourself to a day fishing.

My regulars will know that I am also a tree surgeon, but I’m getting to old to be climbing trees, so if there are any days you want to go fishing give me an excuse, call me and I will try and arrange something even individuals we can start a list and see if we can get a boat load together.

If the weather holds I will be looking to get out to the brittle star banks for the summer cod probably starting in June. Ring for more details.
I will also be arranging some bass trips on the offshore banks.

The evening smooth hound trips seem to be getting popular. I am running them at £160.00 for the boat or £25.00 per head for individuals about a 4 hr trip in local waters up the Solent, “good fun on light gear“

A couple of space left for the tope match on the 15th May £40.00 per head + £10.00 match fees
Look forward to seeing you soon

  Hi all you danglers,
What’s happening? I’m pleased February and March are out the way, The day’s are getting longer and warmer,
Things are differently looking up, the Blonde Rays are now showing on the off shore banks, and I’m expecting the Black Bream to show up any time soon, and the first of the Tope should be here in May, The smooth Hounds are already showing up in the catches while we’ve been fishing for the ray’s, which is early, I hope that’s a good sign!
When the smooth hound have established them self in the Solent, I will be running some evening trips up their shorter trips but should be good fun especially on light gear. Probably about £200.00 for the boat and a 4 hour (ish) session or if any individuals are interested £28.00 per head. Just give me a call and I’ll try to organise something.
So dust off them rod get the sun tan cream and sunny’s out, and I’ll look forward to seeing you soon,
Regards and tight line’s Matt “OPTIMIST
